Once Upon a Time, I Proposed a Skit . . . .

Filed under: Dark Side, entertainment, Humor, Media, Politics, Principles, Viewing — Tags: , , , , , , — mikewb1971 @ 8:54 AM (08:54)

Back in the 1990s, a few of us Old Drunken Old Irrvelivent types were talking about potential skits for our public-access television presence (The Weekly Sedition, New Mexico’s Consumer Advocate, etc.).

One of the ideas that I came up with was to have two people sitting side by side at a table or desk, wearing black BDU-type shirts, black balaclava-type face masks, and black K-pot-type helmets. Something like this (minus the embroidery, web gear, weapons and chest plate) —

On the front of one of the helmets, there would be painted a rather conspicuous donkey. On the other, an elephant.

While sitting there on camera, our two TV stars would crack jokes and reminisce about how much fun it was to go after church groups, people wanting to be left alone, gun show promoters, and other “undesirables,” using lethal force, explosives, armored vehicles, and airstrikes, etc.

Such a skit might be considered “tasteless” (especially by the “You can’t say that!” crowd), but seriously, folks? How can signing off on such behavior, even implicitly, in the most roundabout fashion, be considered “tasteful” ?

Back in the Saddle

Current mood: happy

After two long years of being “off the air,” The Weekly Sedition returned to the Channel 27 schedule last night at 8 PM MST.

For our first night back, we kept it simple, as the Quote-Unquote staff had changed the equipment setup in Studio B. For example, the new character generator (CG) system, a “Video Titlemaster 2000,” takes a lot of getting used to. I’ll have to spend some time in the studio practicing with the new system, as I had gotten quite good with the old one.

As I was setting up the studio for the show, I noticed that Paul Gessing of the Rio Grande Foundation had arrived at the Channel 27 offices. No, he wasn’t there to be our guest, but to meet with the Coalition to Stop $30 Billion to Israel. Paul admitted that they’re “lefties”, but said that he’s got to be able to work with people he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with at times. Still, expect a “Swift Boat” campaign against Paul of the kind used against Adam Kokesh should he ever decide to run for public office, especially a federal office. Especially if he runs as a Republican.

What did we talk about on our return to the “airwaves” ? What we usually talk about — excessive public spending, regulations over the private sector, corruption of government officials, rights of the accused, rights (and duties) of the juror, among other things.

Adding the Complaint Department

Current mood: jubilant

KCUF Media is proud to announce our latest division — the Complaint Department.

This will be staffed by all of the morons who call in to The Weekly Sedition and New Mexico’s Consumer Advocate (or any other show KCUF is involved in) to threaten the hosts, guests or producer, or to call us four-letter words.

We reserve the right to publish any and all personal information from such I.D.I.O.T.s (Individuals Devoid of Independent and Objective Thought), including but not limited to phone numbers, email addresses, or pictures.

The IFC Presents “Some Mother’s Son”

Filed under: Events, Friends, History, Media, Politics, Viewing — Tags: , , , — mikewb1971 @ 4:48 PM (16:48)

The Irish Freedom Committee will be holding three screenings of the film “Some Mother’s Son” at the Guild Cinema on Thursday, 14 September 2006.

This film is a fictional account of the 1981 hunger strikes at Long Kesh Prison (HM Prison Maze), a very good account of what happens to an undefended community.

The Guild Cinema is located at 3405 Central Ave NE in Albuquerque. Showtimes are 4:30 PM, 6:45 PM and 9:15 PM. There will be a short question and answer session after the 6:45 showing.

Contact Charles McLaughlin for more details — 505-235-5906.

(Charles will also be appearing as a guest on The Weekly Sedition on 13 September 2006, from 8:00 to 9:00 PM.)
