“Whenever I, or others, object to ‘registration’ or bans on transfers, or other forms of ‘gun control’ and firearms restrictions as steps toward an eventual complete prohibition and the confiscation that such would necessarily entail, we get told we’re paranoid and ‘nobody wants to take your guns.'”
Let’s keep a running tally of those who explicitly state their desire to engage in weapons prohibition and confiscation, and expose those who say “No one wants to take your guns” as the liars that they are.

A: Considering that in the past twenty years that I’ve been following this issue (admittedly from the pro-gun side), I’ve seen the anti-gun-owner crowd repeatedly say that “no one needs a gun” and “eventually we’ll take them all away,” among other things, while insinuating that my side is composed of nothing but psychopaths, criminals, terrorists, and idiots . . .
There’s really no way that We The Gun Owners are going to believe the other side at this point when they say “no one wants to take away your gun.”

A: FIRST, the “gun reform” desired by the question asker is more properly labelled as victim disarmament or citizen disarmament, because it won’t disarm a single criminal who doesn’t want to be disarmed.
You see, the criminal and terrorist elements have found the massive loophole that exists in all of the proposed “gun reforms” called “breaking the law.”
SECOND, the individual right to own and carry weapons is part of the package deal every sapient human being gets at birth (“natural rights”) as a condition of being born as a sapient being. That pre-existing human, civil, Constitutional right cannot be morally and ethically done away with as a matter of government decree because rights don’t come from government. All the Second Amendment does (rather, is supposed to do) is guarantee that government will not interfere in citizens’ exercise of the right to own and carry weapons.
As for the belief amongst weapons enthusiasts that “gun reform will cause them to lose their right to own a weapon,” there is abundant evidence of victim disarmers’ desire of infringe the right to own and carry weapons, in their own words:
