“KKKOB” — Eric Griego is Just the Latest

Current mood: amused

Recently, I had heard about one of our intrepid legislators referring to local radio station 770 KKOB-AM as “KKKOB.” Here’s the article in the Albuquerque Journal and the associated video clip.

Anyway, I ran a Google search on “KKKOB” NM, and learned that this gaffe from Eric the Red is merely the latest in a string of such comments, some of which go back years.

Here’s the earliest such that I found on the internet:

Talk radio could play a key public role, if . . .(Insight and Opinion)

I could call it KKKOB-AM.

I could tell you to listen to a different radio station.

I could recommend that fair-minded business owners yank their ads off its schedule.

But I won’t.

I’m not a speck shy about saying this: I regularly turn my tuner to 770 on the AM dial – not because Larry Ahrens is the always-on-target observer of the political scene and not because Chris Jackson is such an uplifting fellow.

Rather, I listen because I enjoy hearing what “people on the street” are thinking. I like getting regular updates of local and national news. I need the traffic reports to help me cope with my . . .

It isn’t limited to political discussions, either: here’s a link to a posting at The Lobo Lair24 December 2010

And it’s not just 770-AM that’s received the “KKKOB” nickname – it was applied to KOB-TV on 29 December 2006.

Movie Review — Bitch Slap

Current mood: amused

I finally got around to watching Bitch Slap. To sum up the experience, it was both great and disappointing.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. How exactly was the flick disappointing? Let me count the ways –

  1. If you’re looking for plot and character development, Bitch Slap isn’t for you.
  2. The gunfighting scenes aren’t at all realistic. Neither is the “K-14 Corsair railgun with carbon fiber mounts, Hellfire dampening system and Zion laser scope.”
  3. One of the ladies is a secret agent with the special-ops outfit titled “Fleshforce Foxy,” her codename / callsign is “Foxy69.”
  4. “Foxy69” is operating in alpine territory dressed rather scantily, and is ordered to her next mission by her boss (“Mr. Phoenix”) through her Dick Tracy-type wrist-communicator, which displays Phoenix’s image as a hologram.
  5. After receiving her new orders, “Foxy69” receives her new outfit for the undercover assignment from a missile which lands five feet next to her, then calls down an avalanche to cover her tracks.
  6. I predicted who the eventual antagonist was from the beginning.(NO, I’m not telling — sit through it and find out for yourself!)
  7. The “grand prize” of their search in the desert is a canister of carbon-attacking nanites, which “Fleshforce Foxy” doesn’t want to get into the hands of a “combatant country” or “crazed libertarians.”

But then, the viewer should remember that Bitch Slap wasn’t intended to be a good movie in terms of realism, plot and characteriztions. What it is intended to be is a turn-your-brain-off flick for guys, and in that regard, it succeeds admirably. There’s plenty of cleavage, softcore sex scenes of the lesbian kind, and mindless, black-comedy violence — about 105 minutes worth, in fact.

I mean, the scene where Trixie, Hel and Camero dump all of their drinking water all over each other as they’re digging at high noon in the Nevada summer sun isn’t very realistic, is it? Just accept it for what it is — hot babes splashing water all over each other’s bodies, causing their clothes to get all clingy . . .

In summary, guys, turn your brains off and enjoy.

Where’s My Christmas Spirit?!

I’m not sure that I have a favorite Christmas song from the traditionally-accepted smorgasborg that’s available. I never had much holiday spirit to begin with, and I’ve been working the past five holiday seasons in a discount warehouse store, either on register or chasing and stopping shoplifters. Thus whatever holiday spirit I once had has been smashed, burned and stuffed down a black hole, just Dan Halen disposed of a dead hooker and his mother in God’s Bro

Still, if I had to name one song as a Christmas favorite, it would be “Hey Santa Claus” by Kevin Bloody Wilsonhere’s the lyrics for those who want to sing along.

How about Christmas with the Aqua Teens?

Shifting Things Around . . .

Filed under: Administrivia, Dark Side, Life, Media, Networking, Social Life — Tags: , , , , , — mikewb1971 @ 10:29 PM (22:29)

First, I’m going to drop out of the network and its affiliates (,, as well as, and —  they’re too much of a pain to use, and each of them requires that you pay up front before they let you contact people — even if someone messages you first. That’s really aggravating, but that’s how they make their money. So I stick to using the services that don’t have that requirement. Easy enough. I’ll be posting my adult-type stuff here on Yahoo!, as I can set it up to ask if someone is 18 before the system lets them see the pages.

On a related note, I’ve always been a bit of a smart-ass, so I just signed up on Myspace as a comedian. This will give me a chance to let loose with rants and raves that I wouldn’t want to post here or on my KCUF Media site. This move on my part was inspired in part by British blogger Chris Mounsey, who posts under the pseudonym Devil’s Kitchen.
