Except using the word “isolationist” in relation to libertarians is pure slander and libel. True isolationism is Japan between 1635 and 1853, or China between 1757 and 1839. Libertarians are simply opposed to foreign policies that micromanage the rest of the world.

I don’t see Trump himself as a racist — he’ll use eminent domain to take a white guy’s house for his next parking lot or golf course just as quickly as he’ll take a black guy’s house — but he seems willing to play to that crowd if doing so gets him what he wants.

And of course, most of what we see of him is filtered through the lamestream snoozemedia, which is 96% in the bag for Hillary.

A 5% tax won’t fund the massive, bloated government that you insist is necessary. I never said that it would. Before 1913, America got by with just tariffs and excise duties, and still fielded a Navy, Army and Marine Corps.

As for healthcare, Medicare and Medicaid were started in 1965, and costs have continued to go up and up ever since. That’s what happens when you tell people “this won’t cost you anything.”

If we change or dump the tax system first, then there might not be a tax code with a 501(c)(3) provision in it. Whatever — the welfare agencies should still be non-profit charities outside the government sector.

Basically, the proposed amendment gives more power to state and local government for a flimsy-at-best justification.

Government’s only excuse to exist is to protect the lives and liberties of its constituents. Governments have a proven 5,000 year track record of doing a lousy job in that mission, and quite often, government officials deliberately act against that purpose.

Libertarians have NO business advocating for making government bigger, more intrusive or more expensive. There are plenty of Democrats and Romney / Trump / Bush Republicans chomping at the bit to do exactly that.

If there wasn’t a Libertarian running for Governor of New Hampshire, Weld’s donation(s) to Chris Sununu wouldn’t have been an issue at all. But since Max Abramson WAS nominated as the Libertarian candidate for the same office this year, those donations were an act of treason against the Libertarian Party.

Most libertarians and a good bit of conservatives have the attitude of “what’s mine is mine, what’s yours is yours” where life, liberty, property, money, etc., are concerned.

Most apologists for victim disarmament, on the other hand, have the attitude of “what’s mine is mine, what’s yours is negotiable (and ultimately mine)” towards everything.

Hence the anti-gun-owner bigots’ playing fast and loose with facts where “debates” on gun rights are concerned.

  8. Posted to Galaxy2

First, I agree about Johnson being more of a Democrat than a Libertarian. His running mate is even worse. I've been in the LP since 1994, and active in the LP of New Mexico since 1996. It looks even worse from the inside.

Second, can't argue there, but that won't stop Hillary from trying to cheat her way to the White House. It doesn't help Trump that the lamestream snoozemedia is ninety-plus percent in the bag for her — like two ticks conspiring on finding the best hiding spot on your pet.

Third, never underestimate the Democrats and Democrat-wannabes (some call the latter "Republicans") — very few contests have been lost by overestimating the opposition.

Libertarian Party candidates, elected officials or internal officials should refrain from advocating or supporting ANY increases in the size, expense or intrusiveness of government. If shrinking the State is too much to ask of them, they should act and speak to FREEZE government at present levels. To paraphrase the medical profession, “First, do no harm.”

For anyone putting out campaign signs —

Just make sure that any signs you put up near polling places are AT LEAST one hundred feet (100′) away from the actual polling place. Also, you aren’t permitted, per State Election Code, from carrying any signs within that distance, or wearing any campaign T-shirts, buttons, hats. Same goes for Libertarian Party signs, shirts, hats, buttons, etc.

Back in 1998, there was a guy working for Maurice McDonald’s land commissioner campaign who tried to enter the polling place wearing a “VOTE LIBERTARIAN” T-shirt, was told this, refused to remove the shirt, and ended up getting arrested, charged, etc., for it.

“If Bill Weld were at the top of the Libertarian ticket, instead of playing second fiddle, that would be another matter entirely. But he is not.”

If Mr. Bill were at the top of the LP ticket, it wouldn’t be a libertarian ticket at all because Mr. Bill isn’t a libertarian, and doesn’t seem to care in the slightest about the Non-Aggression Principle or the Libertarian Party’s Statement of Principles. His being the presidential nominee would result in significant numbers of libertarians either voting the air or staying away from the polls entirely.
