Random Shots for Saturday, 8 October 2016

Today in history

Listening / Reading / Watching

  1. Bill Weld live video from Massachusetts
  2. guns.com – Bill introduced to remove suppressors from NFA regulation by Chris Eger

Wish List

  1. Merchant Education Cards from the Firearms Coalition

Notes from Life, Etc.

  1. Went to the Gary Johnson UNM rally – all seemed to go rather well:
    1. Gary didn’t deviate significantly from the Libertarian Party platform. Specifically:
      1. He didn’t mention the “Fair Tax” at all. Maybe he’s getting the message that the idea sucks?
      2. He didn’t say anything about “climate change” or “global warming” or whatever the statists rebrand it as this week.
      3. He said that we “absolutely support the Second Amendment” (good), then added “we need to be open to the discussion about how to keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill people, we open to the discussion about how to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists, nobody wants those people to get guns . . . .” (inane).
    2. The event was well-attended, despite the fact that the campaign’s national-level staff only gave the local staff four (4) days notice of the event. Head count was about 200 people, not including press, UNM staff, and event staff.
    3. The event started at 3:00 PM local time, as scheduled.
    4. The event space was appropriately sized for the event. The original plan called for all three ballrooms in the SUB, but it had been scaled back to just Ballroom B by today. Better to have people packed in shoulder-to-shoulder satnding-room-only than to have half of the room left empty.
