   The problem with “REAL ID” is that it forces the states to contribute to the building of a database of everybody in the nation, using the “Social Security Number” as a sort of “master ID number” :

   That database (or collection of databases, as each agency of federal, state and local government seems to building their own for whatever purposes) isn’t mentioned in Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution as something that Congress is allowed to create. That alone should have killed it.

   Another problem is that what happens when your file in one agency’s database conflicts with your file in another agency’s database?

   Combine that with the multitude of surveillance programs being instituted . . .
