Here’s the PT standards for a “Conservation Officer” applicant:

    15 push-ups in 1 minute

    27 sit-ups in 1 minute

Hell, even my fat gimpy ass could manage that.

Of course, those are the standards for *applicants*. We’ve all seen enough 400-lb cops to know that they probably aren’t enforced past graduation.

As always with the Obamatons and Obama himself, liberty is like property, money, life, and pursuit of happiness — “What’s mine is mine, what’s yours is negotiable (and ultimately mine).”

My main gripe about most Republicans is that they’re perfectly comfortable with trashing liberty in the same manner as Democrats and will sign off on the same sorts of policies as long as one of theirs is doing it.

Add to Mr. Bertsch’s answer the fact that gun prohibitionists keep saying “We don’t want to take your guns,” while at the same time, they call for all sorts of legislation that makes owning, purchasing, carrying, using or repairing a firearm more difficult. More to the point, they never answer the question “What sort of gun ban will you refuse to sign off on?”

So when they say “We don’t want to take your guns,” why in Hell should We The Gun Owners believe them?

The title suggests that this is a done deal when at present, it’s simply Barack XLIV bloviating another talking point from his wish list of “fundamental transformation” schemes.

Ordinarily, I’d say to make this actually a part of the U.S. Code that stands up to scrutiny by the nine gavel-fondlers, he’s probably going to need a Constitutional Amendment. But then the Supremes said that the individual mandate of his federalized RomneyCare plan was Constitutional because it’s a tax, when it was advertised as not being a tax when passing through Congress.

Expect the Bushevik / Romneyroid faction of the GOP to support this under the aegis of “national service.”

“Jeff Sessions for President — All of the other Republicans are, frankly, traitors on immigration, and of course all the Democrats are even worse.”

So when you’re a “libertarian nationalist,” the Zero Aggression Principle comes in second or third to “racial reality” and “the Jews did it” ?

I guess I’ll have to stick with being a pre-Rooseveltian liberal AKA just-plain libertarian then.

Expect that the Bushevik and Romneyroid wing of the GOP will support this under the rubric of “national service.”

But they’re the ones who gave Obama the template for Obamacare in the first place.

William N. Grigg repeatedly points out that in these cases, the debate isn’t about what was done wrong, but of “Who / Whom” in that the offended group has been deemed as politically protected, and the offending group has no such protections, and is thus fair game for any assaults, slights, etc., that the protected groups care to throw their way.

  3. Re: Ad Week: Ad of the Day: Here’s What Happens When You Open a Gun Store in the Middle of NYC

How easy or difficult was it for these people to get through New York City’s permitting process to set up this “gun store” ?

Did they have to go through the same sorts of hassles that someone wanting to set up a real gun store would have to? Or did Bill DeBlasio and Baron Bloomberg “expedite” the process so that this video could be produced?

Considering that in the past twenty years that I’ve been following this issue (admittedly from the pro-gun side), I’ve seen the anti-gun-owner crowd repeatedly say that “no one needs a gun” and “eventually we’ll take them all away,” among other things, while insinuating that my side is composed of nothing but psychopaths, criminals, terrorists, and idiots . . .

There’s really no way that We The Gun Owners are going to believe the other side at this point when they say “no one wants to take away your gun.”
